Our Vision & History

The internet has opened access to tens of thousands of independent and public radio broadcasts worldwide. However, accessing them has become increasingly difficult due to fragmented directories, heavy tracking, and bloated streaming applications. Early internet radio directories were simple lists, but over time, they devolved into platforms that force users to listen to programmatic audio advertisements every time they switch a station.

Sentri Radio was founded by Oleg Antonov to deliver a streamlined, aesthetic dashboard that respects the listener. We focus on visual-first discoverability, high-fidelity audio streams, and user control. By utilizing open-source directory indexers like Radio-Browser and combining them with custom caching layers and fallback proxies, we ensure that streams load quickly and reliably, regardless of where the listener is located.

The Technology Stack

Under the hood, Sentri Radio is built on a modern serverless edge architecture. We employ intelligent stream proxying to bypass CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing) restrictions and strict mixed-content blocks that typically break insecure HTTP audio streams in modern web browsers. This means you can listen to a small independent broadcaster running an old Icecast server just as easily as a massive commercial network.

For metadata, our player engine continuously polls and parses ICY metadata headers injected into the raw audio streams. This allows us to extract track titles and artist information in real-time, matching them against global databases so you can instantly save songs to your library or open them in Spotify and YouTube.
